PELI lights take three different types of batteries: alkaline, lithium and rechargeable. The proper use of these batteries can ensure their safety and endurance. Here are a few things to keep in mind when using each.
Alkaline batteries are approved for explosive environments as long as the specified cell type manufacturer and brand names displayed on the flashlight are used. When replacing the batteries, you should always replace all the batteries at the same time and keep in mind that mixing battery brands and old and new batteries is not recommended. Don’t change batteries in a hazardous location and remember to remove batteries from equipment if it is not to be used for an extended period of time.
Lithium batteries should always be handled with care. They can explode, leak or cause burns if not handled properly. In PELI lights, only Panasonic, Energizer, Duracell and Sanyo cells should be used. As with alkaline batteries, brands shouldn’t be mixed and you should replace all the batteries at the same time. Avoid exposing these batteries to extreme heat and fire as well as water. And remember that they shouldn’t be opened or recharged.
When using rechargeable batteries, it is very important to keep in mind that their safety is only ensured when using the PELI battery pack that is supplied with the light. This goes for replacement battery packs as well. Lights should only be charged in a safe environment using only the PELI charger base that comes with the light. The light should never be charged with alkaline batteries installed, as this can cause venting, explosion or possibly fire. Remember that deep discharge of rechargeable batteries can cause them to vent dangerous gases and electrolytes, so it’s important to keep them charged.
With all batteries, it’s important to dispose of them at an approved battery recycling centre. The planet will thank you for it!
