Recent research involving over 2,000 smartphone users in Europe has shown 37% of parents admitted their child owned a mobile phone, with 11% being aged between six and eight.

“Parents don’t usually share their mobile devices with kids for speaking to someone,” says Estefania Fenoy, Marketing Director EMEA at Peli. “Parents loan their smartphones to keep their children occupied. Over 20% of parents in the study said they loaned their phones to their children at restaurants; 18% in a doctor’s or dentist’s waiting room; and 22% generally when outside the home. Only 29% of respondents said they did not loan their mobile to their children.”

Of those involved in Peli’s research, a staggering 72% had damaged or broken their phone – 77% of those being a simple slip from a pocket, and 25% of people not even getting their phone repaired.
